You’ve Hit All Your Goals, Now What?

At the beginning of September, my soul sister, Beyonce, turned forty. Her mother shared a video of Beyonce saying things she hoped to accomplish by forty -- have children, make a documentary, grow her company, and be happy. If you know anything about Beyonce, you’ll know she accomplished it all!

As a young millennial reaching “middle age” (aka the thirties), I realized I had only set goals to reach this point. Props to me for accomplishing all of my goals, and doing so a year early (Go me!); but for the past year, I’ve been trying to figure out “Now what?” Luckily this pandemic hit (feel my sarcasm) and things slowed down. Despite how unexpected and frustrating this has been, it has also allowed time for a reset.

So as I reset and think about my future, I reflect on my values (love, authenticity, connection), how I’ve been living in them and how I haven’t. I think about what would be fulfilling for me, what could I do to ensure I’m living into my purpose and using my gifts, talents, and experiences. I’m thinking about how my New Year resolution was about finding and maintaining balance (not sure how that’s going honestly).

With all of this in mind, I’ve started to identify what I want and taking small steps (today) to move towards those goals.

Here are a few of the goals I’ve set to achieve over the next decade.

  •  Eat whole food plant-based 75% of the time (because I’m always going to eat cake)

  •  Show more care to and for loved ones through acceptance, quality time, and communicating needs and boundaries

  •  Own one home and complete a project in the home

  • Leave the country once a year

  • SUPER GOAL: Fill up my passport before it expires

I also found some quotes and affirmations to support myself because sometimes working towards goals is hard and I become unmotivated.

“Stand up straight and realize who you are.” -Maya Angelou

  • Balance – the ability to move or to remain in a position without losing control or falling.

  • I choose to live a rich and full life

  • I am committed to showing up for myself because I am worthy of my own time, space, and energy (thanks @Alex_Elle)

  • I give myself permission to ask for help

  • I am committed to my own success

  • I take action on my goals now so I can have the lifestyle I want.

If you, like me, need assistance with figuring out how to move forward and live into your purpose, reach out to me and my team at The Spark Mill. We’d love to help you make change happen.
