The Beat Goes On: Client Transformation and New Work Continues, Even in a Pandemic

This isn’t an advice post. This is a reminder that even in the midst of uncertainty people are doing strategic work and hard work and celebrating major successes.

Even in a COVID-19 world of teleworking and endless Zoom calls, strategy and planning doesn’t stop. We have adapted our services and are keeping things moving. We wanted to shout out some of our current clients for being open to new things and trialing new tools with us. Below – read what each of us is up to from our bedrooms, our kitchen tables, and our new home offices.


Whole Team

  1. Pivoting the Group Strategic Planning program conducted with support from CNE and The Cameron Foundation to online.

Sarah

  1. Getting the ReadyKids Strategic Plan across the finish line – the board will be viewing a final draft very soon!

  2. Kicking-off with Greater Augusta Wellness Partnership to begin strategic planning.

  3. Working through brand and marketing capacity building with VCDC.

  4. Beginning support for Petersburg Symphony Orchestra with the 2020 Pathways Program supported by CNE and sponsored by The Cameron Foundation.

  5. Calls with former and current clients and community leaders to help process necessary changes to their plans.

  6. Planning our next series of Webinars, including this one about the recently announced Spring Giving Tuesday.

Chris

  1. The Arc of the Piedmont approved their strategic plan and are now working on crafting tactics to start to execute on their plan.

  2. The Thomas Jefferson Community Land Trust  board finalized their implementation plan and they are building out steps to increase access to affordable housing in their region.

  3. Valley Supportive Housing is mapping out their next steps to implement the plan they approved in March.

  4. Kicking off a strategic planning project with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Outreach/Community Engagement Ministry.

  5. Working with the Collaboratory of Virginia to develop a 6 week Virtual Accelerator for nonprofits to help them pivot and retool their work for work in the midst of COVID-19.

Lindsey

  1. Finalized the Crater Area Coalition on Homelessness’ strategic plan, which the board approved this week. Now onto implementation!

  2. Continued our organizational development support to the Blue Ridge Abortion Fund through focusing on internal committee work and decision making.

  3. Beginning support for Petersburg Main Street and the Willcox Watershed Conservancy with the 2020 Pathways Program supported by CNE and sponsored by The Cameron Foundation.

  4. Finished implementation with Downtown Greens’ strategic plan.

  5. Welcomed Rooftop of Virginia to our strategic planning process with a kick off meeting with some of their leadership team.

  6. Kicking off a Philanthropy Planning and Strategy project with Nurture,

  7. Many, many conversations with clients and community leaders about the importance of fundraising and strong strategic direction during this time.

Chelsea

  1. Starting work with the Petersburg Art League as part of the Pathways 2020 program.

  2. Finishing up plans with Boaz and Ruth and Crater Area Coalition on Homelessness.

  3. Diving in with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Outreach/Community Engagement Ministry here in Richmond.

Courtney

  1. National Recreation and Park Association has been keeping me busy as we put the finishing touches on a substantial development and fundraising project as well as assist them in pulling together a major federal grant proposal. Shout out to their team for getting the grant out the door this week - good luck! 

  2. Crafting a survey for Trinity United Methodist Church in Smithfield, VA to collect congregational feedback as part of their strategic planning process.

  3. Wrapped up organizational capacity building assessments for five nonprofits in the Petersburg region as part of the 2020 Pathways Program supported by CNE and sponsored by The Cameron Foundation.

  4. Delivering Community Plans in the next week or so to CultureWorks, Downtown Greens, Valley Supportive Housing, Arc of the Piedmont, and The Junior League of Richmond.

 Rain

  1. Every single process and virtual file cabinet stuffed to the gills is getting a once over with an eye towards simplification and automation.
