Introducing: Rain Thomas - 20 Things About Her

It’s Rain-ing at The Spark Mill!

Little did I know, two years ago when I sat through a facilitation retreat with Sarah and her team, that not too far in the distant future I would be accepting a job to work at The Spark Mill.  I have been self-employed for over 6 years, working with my husband John at his Design/Build Firm, building a start-up from, skraach, and from time to time I would be approached to join various brand campaigns and do design freelance.  As much as I enjoy being a husband and wife team, I feel like….. it’s time.  I have been eager to flex my skills and challenge myself by going back out into the workforce. So, when the opportunity presented itself to join this team, I JUMPED, without hesitation. 

The environment, culture and the people that make up this company are rare. I feel like I have found a hidden gem in RVA.  Here, at The Spark Mill, Sarah cares about her people and what better way to for me to say “Hi, my name is…” but to share 20 unique things about myself my co-workers may not know:

1.     I’m married

2.     I met my husband on a movie set.

3.     I’m a mom of one. An adorable little boy, Grae.

4.     I love blueberry everything.

5.     I was born in Louisiana but grew up in West Point, Virginia 

6.     I enjoy cooking

7.     I am the middle child (what they say is true)

8.     I have two sisters

9.     My favorite season is Fall

10. My pet peeve is spitting

11. From 5 years old until I was 16 years old I played both the violin and piano

12. I’m a morning person

13. I think Kale and should be its own food group

14. I want a farm and lots of land one day

15. I am slightly OCD (my husband would disagree with, slightly)

16. I’m a Christian. Gospel music puts me at ease.

17. One of my all-time favorite movies is Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley

18. Oreos are my favorite cookies

19. I have one tattoo

20. I have been an avid Grey’s Anatomy watcher since DAY ONE!

BONUS: I used to schedule my class in college around watching Oprah at 4pm.
